Massage Chairs, Explained
What the technology and the numbers mean, how a session works, and what to expect.
How a session works
Sit and start
Sit back and choose an automatic program, or a manual one, with the remote or touchscreen. Chairs with a scan measure your spine first.
Recline
The back lowers and the footrest raises into your chosen recline position.
Massage and warmth
The massage unit travels along the track behind your back with heat, and air cells or an abdominal warmer run where your chair has them.
Sit up
When the program ends, the chair returns upright. Take a moment before you stand.
What the numbers mean
Body scan
The M10 uses a Smart Body Scan to map your spine and body profile. The M6 uses 9-point scanning that detects your shoulder position and measures your spine. The M4 has no scan, and its S-L frame follows your body from neck to thighs.
S-L frame
An S-L frame follows the natural S curve of the upper back, then runs straight through the lower back and hips. It is the massage track behind your back.
Programs and Split-Zone
The M10 offers 24 automatic and 6 manual modes, and its Split-Zone control lets you set upper and lower body separately. The M6 offers 10 automatic and 5 custom modes. The M4 offers 8 automatic programs.
Heat
All three chairs warm up to 149°F (65°C). The M10 and M6 use direct-heating thermal balls and reach temperature in about 10 minutes, and the heated abdominal massager on the M6 and M4 reaches up to 140°F.
Recline and zero gravity
The M6 reclines up to 150° with a one-touch zero-gravity position. The M4 reclines to 145° with a built-in footrest. The M10 has a zero-wall design, so it fully reclines with only about 4 in. of clearance behind it.
Air-cell and lower-body massage
The M10 has Aircell massage in 6 areas: shoulders, arms, pelvis, thighs, calves and feet. The M6 with accessories adds an Aircell lower-body massager and heated abdominal massager, and the M6s option is the chair only. The M4 has a heated abdominal massager and a footrest.
Controls and connections
The M10 has an 8 in. touchscreen and silent dual motors, plus 16 anti-entrapment sensors. The M6 has Bluetooth speakers and a USB Type-C port. The M4 has a Bluetooth speaker and a USB port.

Frequently Asked Questions
M10 or M6: which one is right for me?
The M10 is the most advanced chair in the line: silent dual motors, Split-Zone control for upper and lower body, 24 automatic modes and a touchscreen. The M6 has 15 modes, zero-gravity recline and a lounge-style design at a lower price. Choose the M10 if you want the most customization.
What does Split-Zone mean?
You can set the upper and lower body separately. The M10 has 24 automatic and 6 manual modes, plus Aircell massage in 6 areas: shoulders, arms, pelvis, thighs, calves and feet.
How much room does it need?
The M10 has a zero-wall design, so it fully reclines with only about 4 in. of clearance behind it. It measures about 69.3 in. deep, 34.3 in. wide and 44.5 in. high, and weighs about 306 lbs.
Massage chair or thermal bed: which should I choose?
A massage chair keeps you in a seated or zero-gravity recline. A thermal massage bed lets you lie out while the engine travels along your spine, and it folds away when you are done. Choose a chair if you prefer to sit back, or look at the Master series beds for a full-length session.
It's a big purchase. What if it isn't right for me?
Ceragem sets a 14-day return window for items in new, unused condition, with a 20% restocking fee, so we want you to choose with confidence. Message or call our team before you order and we'll help you pick the right model for your body and your space. If your order arrives damaged or defective, we'll make it right.
What if it breaks, and can I reach a real person?
Your Ceragem is covered by Ceragem's manufacturer warranty: 1 year of parts and labor on Pause series chairs. Our team is available 9am to 5pm Eastern, Monday through Friday, with chat and email open 24/7, and we'll help you coordinate any warranty claim with Ceragem.
How does delivery work, and who sets it up?
Shipping is free, and orders typically arrive in about 5 to 11 days, with tracking emailed as soon as your order ships. These are heavy items, so we recommend the White Glove option (+$200) for professional installation and setup.
Who shouldn't use a thermal massage product?
Check with your doctor first if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted device, a spinal injury or condition, or any medical condition affected by heat or pressure. Always follow the safety instructions in the user manual.
Is it really worth it compared with paying for massages?
A Ceragem is a one-time purchase that your whole household can use any time, with no appointments, no drive and no per-visit cost. If you book massages regularly, compare what you spend in a year with the cost of owning one. Flexible payment options are shown at checkout when available.
